so after kicking and screaming I've decided to post some newer artworks- nothing fancy, this was done for a series drawing this semester... I'm doing animals, particularly canines for now because I happen to enjoy them. So here's a wolf- I've attempted a 'portrait' but in my own 'style' if there is such a thing... anyways, after hearing alot of rants about Robert Bateman-esque animals I got a little pissy- Bateman is phenomenal at what he does- so fuck you all. I am no Bateman, and who cares if he paints things which others deem as 'kitsch'? everything is fucking kitsch- its all been done before- stop assuming because you are an artist you are anything more than a tradesman selling your skill for money or ego. Just because it isn't avant garde, does not make it unfit for a gallery- people like you make art into what it is- a self perpetuating stink hole of crummy ideals and stuffy bourgeoisies. bah!

Love the wolf. A writer friend of mine says her totemic animal is a wolf. I may point her in this direction.

I think people call animal work "kitschy" if it has a dead branch or log in it. Bateman's work has a lot of that going on. Still, he does some fantastic animal artwork.

I've also found that, when people are in school for the arts, they "analyze" work and get all cynical-sarcastic about it -- yet they can't produce anything that approaches the so-called mainstream art.
